Collaborating with specialist textile artists and artisans from the region, Susan Cianciolo shares her approach to experimental textile works, using the the quilt and its many variations as a starting point. Learning local Rajasthani embroidery and appliqué, kantha quilting and rafoogari mending techniques. We will be working with natural fabrics and medicinal plant dyes to dye fabric and threads, experimenting with techniques such as Bandhani and traditional printing such as block printing, as well as Susan’s stencils. The combination of techniques presents endless possibilities to create expressive quilted or patchwork textile works and coverings. Celebrating the landscape of Rajasthan, we will spend time close to nature, including nature walks and bird watching. Susan will guide daily meditations closely linked to healing modalities related to consciousness and ascension.
