Founded in 2002, Wonderful workshops hosts annual programming of exceptionally hands-on workshops is led by local master-craftspeople in collaboration with well-known international artists. The workshops on offer are based on the traditional arts and crafts of India, with a local focus on Rajasthan. The Wonderful Workshops programme promotes heritage and craft conservation, cross-cultural collaboration and responsible tourism.

The workshops take place over one week at venues specifically selected for each subject, including royal palaces, craft studios & specialist workshops. Alongside a dynamic and rigorous educational focus, the programme includes tailored walks through the old city and bazaars, expeditions to places of special interest to each workshop subject, curated evening performances by classical and folk musicians and a collective exhibition of works produced by all participants.

The workshops are operated under the non for profit association “Wonderful World”. All profits are donated directly to local arts and education programming with guidance from our on the ground partners.

Wonderful Workshops are under the direction of Stella Berkofsky + Nansel Stobdan since 2020, continuing the legacy of Frances Ronaldson + Faith Singh who conceptualized the initiative in 2002.
